English Interpretation of the Chinese HSK 2 Reading Comprehension Essay
At the edge of the city, there was a railway station. It was bustling with people every day, witnessing countless departures and reunions. Near the railway station, there was a school with a spacious and bright classroom, which was a place for students to absorb knowledge. On the other side of the city, there was a modern airport, welcoming and sending off travelers from all over the world.
One day, a small supermarket near the railway station received a large order to supply a batch of eggs, a total of fifty cases, to a restaurant at the airport. The supermarket owner didn’t dare to neglect it and immediately arranged for the staff to prepare the eggs. However, when the supermarket employees were moving the egg cases, they accidentally broke one of them. Egg yolk and white flowed all over the floor. The employees were in a panic, cleaning up the mess while worrying that the boss would blame them.
When the boss found out, although he felt sorry for the broken case of eggs, he decided to make up for another one to ensure that fifty cases of eggs could be delivered to the airport restaurant on time. Just as they were about to move the egg cases again to the railway station for托运 (consignment, as they needed to be transported to a transfer station near the railway station first and then to the airport), the students in a classroom of the school happened to come out after class. A few naughty students saw the supermarket employees moving the egg cases and thought it was fun. They deliberately bumped into the trolley carrying the egg cases, and another case of eggs fell to the ground and broke.
The supermarket employees were in a great hurry. They scolded the naughty students while quickly checking the damage to the eggs. The boss also rushed over in a hurry. Looking at the broken eggs, he was both angry and anxious. But he knew that it wasn’t the time to get angry. He had to come up with a solution quickly. So, the boss personally contacted the nearby egg supplier and got another case of eggs delivered at the fastest speed.
After a lot of trouble, the supermarket employees finally delivered fifty intact cases of eggs to the transfer station near the railway station, and then they were smoothly transported to the airport restaurant. The person in charge of the airport restaurant was satisfied with the supermarket’s timely supply, and the supermarket owner also breathed a sigh of relief. This “egg case” storm finally passed with a narrow escape.
